Kuching Waterfront is a riverfront esplanade located at Main Bazaar Road in Kuching. The Kuching riverfront esplanade which stretches more than a kilometer link the hotel precinct with the downtown Kuching.
It is a self-contained venue with facilities for entertainment.. refreshment…relaxation as well as for culture enjoyment and art appreciations. It is a popular venue for family gathering…corporate activities and also community projects.
It is also the place where you can experience feel of crossing the Sarawak River using the small passenger boat or locally called “Tambang”. Located along the waterfront are numbers of Jetties for this Pemanbang to pick and drop off their passenger. Their services are popular among both local and tourist alike.
The walkway are paved with mosaic panels depicting ethnic motifs … work of art and sculptures could be seen strategically located along the stretch of the waterfront. There is also a musical fountain located at the mid-way of the riverwalk.

The Chinese Museum which is painted pale pink was built in 1912 housed exhibits which traced the settlement of the Chinese in Sarawak… their migration from various regions in China and also their traditional trading activities.
Sitting on a small hill across the Chinese Museum is the Tua Pek Kong Temple…was built in 1843 has become an icon and a popular subject among photographer. It's among the popular tourist site in Kuching City.
The Square Tower which was built in 1978 is a castle structure which was once served as the town’s jail … now a heritage building mainly serve for tourism.
Just across the road…opposite the square tower is the Charles Brooke’s Memorial and the Old Court Complex which housed the Tourist Information Centre for Kuching.
There a number of viewing tower located along the riverfront…where you can have an overview of the Malay Kampung across… the Astana
and also the new Sarawak’s State Legislative Building, where state legislative body hold their meeting on matters pertaining to the administrative of the Sarawak State and its people.
Beside the historical building…the art and sculpture adding to the beautiful and shady landscape…Kuching Waterfront also have food and drink stall. There is also the Godown Amphitheatre where culture performance and concerts are held frequently.
The esplanade is also the starting and ending point for Sunset River Cruise offered by Kuching Tour Operator.
Water sport are also occasionally held there… among them is the Sarawak Regatta.
The row of shop along the Main Bazaar Road are popular for Sarawak Ethnic Handicrafts and Products like the famous Sarawak Layer Cake.
The place is a great venue to watch the sun setting over the mountain range in the distance. At a clear day you can see Mount Serapi in the distance.
